places to live

a walk around our neighborhood last night

the homes people have made

the lives they live

dad's pushing strollers

women gardening and chatting after a day at work
someone doing heavy yard work

two women walking

bikers

lots of dog walking

one cat walker?!?

and one person sitting on their front porch

what a lovely little neighborhood

so it seems


the big pink house went on the market yesterday!??!
after a life time there of making it theirs, bringing it back to it's victorian glory

their daughter has graduated...they are downsizing, moving...

the brandfass's twin house is for sell

i know there are many elderly in the neighborhood...mrs. tharin...deeter...

soon they will have to do something with their homes

and us
i'd love to move to somewhere quieter......
and my mom
where will she end up
what is it she wants for her latter years

we always had flowers around growing up but she never planted a flower garden

we never had a place that was home...

we moved around so much

ten places by the time i graduated from high school

then the move to alabama and all the places there for my little sibs

what that word holds...

mom brought me all, or most of the photographs she's gathered all our lives, she knows i will care for them, catorgoize them and distribute them...

looking thru them after all these years was strange
to see those places again

hear the little stories that go along with them
it gave me a dark, achy feeling

then to go to micki's and do basically the same thing with jessica and michael

i felt that same dark, sad, glad that's over feeling....
that's not the feeling looking at old pictures is supposed to evoke
and the stories that leak out of my mom
living in a tent?
really?

what was her life like to have her be the person she is
