It's a wet and cold Thursday today.
It was a hot summer, the summer I was pregnant with Vinnie. Frank had left big eight and had started working corporate, but we hadn't moved yet. He and we would spend some time at the "beautiful place" and some time at home. The "beautiful place" had air conditioning and a little playground...
At home I remember spreading blankets on the back porch and the two kids and I would take our naps outside![look how big I was?!?]
This was one month before he was born visiting his new born cousin, Zachary Michael...with his older siblings.
How and when does this happen, I remember it as if it were last year.
He is on a fall break this weekend, so he's coming home tonight for birthday dinner/last supper going away dinner. The table is set...for nine...the sauce is on...
There are two huge suitcases standing by the front door, packed and ready to go...tomorrow we will take our eldest son to the airport to begin the next stage of his pilgrimage through this life...
Father in heaven,
the hand of your loving kindness
powerfully yet gently guides all the moments of our day.
Go before us in our pilgimage of life,
anticipate our needs and prevent our falling.
Send your Spirit to unite us in faith, that sharing in your service, we may rejoice in your presence.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
{the opening prayer from Sunday's mass...read by Fr. Giles...}
There's music in the air, ready to be sent...
Saturday morning 'he will be there'
They will be together.
I can almost feel the tangible longing and expectation they must feel.
