He called this morning at 6:41...12:41 p.m. their time. He left here at 1:45 p.m. and arrived there at 7:45 a.m.....
he's there...they sound so happy!
Thursday evening seems like so long ago now. We had a late birthday/going away dinner...
"Mr. and Mrs. Kelly" even came down for the festivities!
But we had to wait for the dad to finish with his late class and for the birthday boy, who also happened to be bringing our daughter!
This would be the last picture I have of our eldest son by himself at home.
The next pictures we take of him here... he'll have his wife and child with him
the boys put up the birthday streamers...a star...a first...for the big TWENTY-ONE.
and the best little fruited tortes in all kinds of wonderful flavors...lemon, carrot cake, white chocolate raspberry, chocolate granache, tiramisu....mmmm
and the next thing I remember is we're taking all these family photos
and then it's morning and there's a whirlwind of activity
and I see his coat, the cashmere that his grandfather gave him, thrown over the chair with his gloves... ready to go... it's already cold in Germany.
and then we're at the airport...
taking more family photos...
hugging good-bye...
i'll miss you...will you be okay?...
i'm excited for you...
and then suddenly we are back in reality...
visiting at Sharon's, planning lunch at Chinatown Inn, and pick-ups after school...
but I notice the burning bush...
crying the tears I wish to take the time to cry
and life goes on...
babies
and our baby... having a baby?!
our sons
coming and going
so seamlessly
walking where we once walked
following in our footsteps?!?
marriage
children
family
home
nor his guitar
nor his key ring
{all those times we searched for his misplaced keys?!??}
but he no longer has his BMW
... and he no longer has need for "this home" key
he'll have a new "home" key now
as their hearts, together once again, look for their own apartment
as their hearts together begin living the rest of their life
together
