Oh Susanna, my intuitive barista...a real moment

a real moment
I've been privledged to be part of a collaboration...for the past few months...
all i need is a moment
It's a group that submits a photograph a week taken at some random always changing pre-determined moment...say, Friday at 5:22 p.m....with an equally changing theme to tie it all together...color, or pattern...
It's been a wonderful experience, even though I happened upon it late in the project.
It came to an end this week...
a very bitter sweet ending...I hate to see it end.
They marked the conclusion with the final theme  of  'celebrate'...
So the cork photo was my interpretation of celebrate...
[the other one is my [365}]
But perhaps just being involved in it this short time has added even more awareness of  'the moments of our life.'

I had a depleting morning at the hospital.
With difficult patient visits, plus I have come to a heart wrenching decision, of taking a leave of absence so I can spend more time with hospice.

As I drive home I pull thru my favorite place of solace and get hit up with the usual 'grande white mocha'....
I pay and the girl hands me my drink.
My favorite barista, the only person's name I know in the place...even after all these years of feeding my addiction...
apparently has a moment and when we say our usual hello she steps away from her station and comes over to the window...
and asks "are you tired?!?"
I think I do a pretty good job of hiding my emotions...and so I'm a little caught off guard?!?
but I tell her "I volunteer at the hospital and it just takes everything out of me..."
and she simply says "I bet it does."

She steps back, I drive away.
But that exchange of such few words was quite profound.

For her to be so intuitive...
Her taking just a moment...
to care and express such a simple kindness....

thank you, Susan for touching me today.
