Twilight
as a gentle rain causes fog to settle over our hillside
across the way
the girl in the yellow house leans out her window
watching the rain and smoking a cigarette

Dom has run out to do some errands
and Vanessa nurses the baby in the other room
a quiet and oh so peaceful evening

after what could not have been a more perfect day
except that I was wrapped in the 'tragetuch'
with the bambino
so somehow forgot to grab my camera
as we walked out the door!?!?
so I did not capture our first stroll together
and it was such a lovely stroll
a little bit along the river
watching the barges
and some ducks...
Vanessa ran into a past teacher of hers
having an outdoor cappuchino and a croissant
she invited us to join her
so we sat in the sun at the sidewalk cafe
Vanessa had pistachio ice cream in a fancy cup
with a heart shaped cookie on the top
and shared her birth story in German
I sipped my coffee
sprinkled with cocoa...
enjoying the luscious scent of a pink lilac
just over our shoulders
and rubbing the sweet little back of my grandson strapped to my chest
asleep under his bonnet
with only one little cheek soaking up the sun
his first trip to the grocery...
and then a delicious dinner
out on the sun porch again...
the first time in weeks!?

broccoli, mushrooms, garlic and onion
with linguini
in yet another of the delectable sauces d & v make....
and then an evening of finishing paperwork and the accomplishment that brings

and then some flying baby time...

and a nice long skype
just me and my hubby
while they too
had their own after hours talk...
