even in the busy of day

I am waiting

I become quiet

I feel stillness

and with my little eye

I spy

on the mall of the Nation's Capital

with everyone trudging about

in the heat

looking up

walking by

looking down

what remains of a gaggle of geese

as they rested

on their way warm for winter

completing the thought

that woke me in the morning

as I heard them fly by

the cool change has come
