bim's basket and Laurel Helen's birth

DSC_0425.JPG
for Christmas I purposed to make a quilt for my son

here is 'my quilt'
still just a basket of old jeans
waiting patiently to be made into something more

the basket made it's way onto my bed
into the sun the other morning
as I scrounged around
looking for something
on the floor
where it's been sitting for months now

they also saw a little action this week
when my daughter-in-law was inspired to do a little creating herself
she asked if she could use some of the old jeans
to make a stuffed elephant!?!
and she did!

a long long time ago
I made a couple quilts
http://allisondegeorge.blogspot.com/2010/03/one-thread-on-edge-of-bed.html
and I wanted to make one for our middle son
as he prepares to graduate from college
like I did for his dad
one thread
he asked if he could help
to learn
which is part of the reason the jeans are still rolled up in the basket

we never seem to find the time when he's home...

never...time...

one day they're born...
taking their families
from 'two kids' to a family of five!!!?!??!

and the next day
they're nine months old and cruising about
in their own little baby gap jeans...

[which will surely be saved
and turned into something more...someday]

and the next day
they call to say they got their first acceptance letter into grad school!
