seeing is believing...or is it?

DSC_0083.JPG
okay, yes, we have had some wonderful blue sky sunny days
although for weeks now I don't think the mercury has risen above freezing
DSC_0076.JPG
so yesterday we are driving in the 'burgh
and see this little corner of green space
with two huge blooming tulip magnolia trees??!?!?
DSC_0078.JPG
we wonder can it be possible
are they real?
of course they're real
it's a little city park tucked into apparently a very sunny corner of two buildings!
DSC_0080.JPG
but alas
it is an installation
by Tony Tasset "Magnolias for Pittsburgh"
two bronze hand cast trees
each covered with over 800 individually hand sculpted petals
DSC_0079.JPG
none the less
it was magical...
and made us feel like Spring really is
just around the corner

and soon it really will be here and very close to home
just across the street

breathtaking

I, too, have experienced that same moment as you, coming upon those very same trees one cold January afternoon. And like you I had to step up close to determine that they were in fact not 'real', but none the less magical. Yes, a "sight to behold" in the bleak midwinter.
