it's good to be home

the weather changes
windows are closed
the heat kicks on
I think about storing away the outdoor furniture
but  haven't yet

and I'm so grateful
and will continue to hold out as long as possible!?!?

because
suddenly it all changes
and we open wide the sun
and enjoy the sleeping weather
and these sacred last days of
front porch moments

a whole day
here
to enjoy soup together
when our youngest comes by to eat his lunch in the sun

here
to receive a friend on her birthday
and exchange an unplanned birthday hug and kiss!

here
when a friend who has moved far away
but is back home for an anniversary
stops by unexpectedly
because she sees the front door open as she's driving by
