before a long year
past

unknown
a long week
a long day
a moment
an instant
love
conception
birth

death

almost thirty years ago now

after hosing a message in the yard
while cleaning up
for the graduation party
once just before the big holiday weekend
not waking up
on a regular day for work
once while mowing the lawn
for the wedding
leaving behind a little little girl and
an even littler boy
once while on golf course
leaving an almost grown son
to be the man of the home
men
and a woman
'blessed' by 'sudden' 'untimely' death
while others linger
year upon year
unconscious and fragile
alone
in their beds
"we are children of God
and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be
but we know
that when He is revealed
we shall be like Him"
