put away flutes this morning
from yesterday's mimosas
grabbing as many as I felt safe carrying
in one wet handful

beautiful tinkling and clinking together
reminiscent of yesterday's gathering
hands held high
raising our individual cups
to each other
to have
to hold
to intone
to touch
to see
to taste
to life
in union
in communion

lives lifted
lives laid down
lives open
to each other
to the One who holds us
in His hands
we are His vessels
delicate fragile transparent shining
created as song
jostled together
clanking and clinking
we cannot help but produce beautiful sweet sound
a song of gratitude
a hymn of praise
'may it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear'
