all that i am

there's been a new person living with us

here

almost every morning

for the first half of this past year

someone who greets me every day

with a quick smile

someone of not many words

and when words were used

alot I did not understand

yet we somehow have managed to communicate

and have come to understand each other

this young person has taught me many things

in the short time we have had together
but not enough

and has brought many things to my remembrance

things that I'd forgotten

or maybe more truthfully
things I never really knew

and may never know
because now she's gone

like remembering what it was like to be young with little ones

things like what it's like to be a child

and a child of God

things like trusting in God
