always

sometimes a little more than others

a tea pot on a tea tray next to a lace window
one wednesday
when we'd visit
she was an 8# 6oz baby once
our round little baby girl
soon she will be a bride
and then she'll have babies of her own

and a son, a father on his knees
over a garden and its weeds

and the smudged handprints on windows and walls
no matter how hard I try to preserve
fade away a little bit more each and every day

and the hon
demolishing and reconstructing
purging in the process
telling me it's time to get rid of lots and lots of things...

always was
even way back when
always will be
when there is so much to look back on
as the days blow by...
in the gentlest of gentle wind

Sentimental Lady, Fleetwood Mac 1972
You are here and warm
But I could look away and you'd be gone
'Cause we live in a time
When meaning falls in splinters from our lives
And that's why I've travelled far
'Cause I come so together where you are

And all of the things that I said that I wanted
Come rushing by in my head when I'm with you
Fourteen joys and a will to be merry
All of the things that we say are very

Sentimental, gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental lady, gentle one
Sentimental, gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental lady, gentle one

Now you are here today
But easily you might just go away
Because we live in a time
When paintings have no color, words don't rhyme
And that's why I've travelled far
'Cause I come so together where you are

And all of the things that I said that I wanted
Come rushing by in my head when I'm with you
Fourteen joys and a will to be merry
And all of the things that we say are very

Sentimental, gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental lady, gentle one
Sentimental, gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental lady

gentle one
