"These are woman's high prerogatives
To make and inspire the home
to lessen the suffering and increase happiness
to aid mankind in its upward struggles
to ennoble and adorn life's work
however humble."
        Margaret Morrison Hall portico
on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University

Words I wrote about and drew about
when I was a young college woman
Words the young woman we raised
surely would have something to say about!?!

and here I am almost 30 years later
humbled
...by the home I've made
   and adorned
...by the lives I've inspired
   and  failed to inspire
...by the suffering I've lessened
   and caused

When I was sitting under this tree at 23....
I never  thought I'd have a child
who at the same age
would walk the same autumn days
I once walked
almost 30 years after I did...
