ring the bells that still can ring
forget your perfect offering
there is a crack in everything
that's how the light gets in
               Leonard Cohen

I first became aware of Leonard Cohen
through the three from here and there collaboration
in January 2011

for some reason though
over the last few days
those words have been resounding in my mind
again
and the other night I finally had the time
to actually listen to his "Anthem"
and
I discovered another beautiful song of his
that has floated in and out of our rooms
up and down our stairs
for years now
on my son's and hon's guitars
"the secret chord"
"the fourth the fifth, the minor fall the major fifth"
"Hallalujah"
Untitled
I usually don't know from where certain thoughts originate
in my little mind

just like sometimes
even in my own familiar home
I don't know where the light is coming from
into the darkness
and why only right here?
and why did I never notice it before?
Untitled
sometimes it's interesting to follow
the light

or a thought

letting it convict
make aware
of the many flaws
yet to be sanctified within

bringing to mind
wonder shared
of pain and healing
where power has been known

there is no music in me
nor
words that will be proclaimed
with humble  power
before awestruck tear filled eyes

only rambling clumsy words

and yet the clapper clangs this cracked bell
...that still can ring
"forget your perfect offering
there is a crack in everything
that's
how the light gets in"

What you do with light is extraordinary.
