disgruntle
discouraged by the light
I forgot
to set the alarm last night
to get up to watch the sun
and now
it's already light
I don't want to leave my nice warm bed
but I want to see the sun!?!
there are storms predicted for the day and already intense cloud coverage
surely I'll just be disappointed
reluctantly I dress
reticent
yet since I did awaken...
I trudge up the block
camera in hand
and as my feet leave the pavement sinking into cool morning sand
there it is
the illusive orange ball my husband insists never happens
"you get everyone up, get dressed, get down there
and then it just 'gets' light"
but this morning
this day
this time
it's there
right there on the horizon
I stand and I watch
till the huge cloud covered sky takes it away
true gift
given
to delight and surprise
me
the reluctant seeker
