DSC_0181

upon this tactile creation I live

and move
and have my being

beneath clear blue sun
through deepest greens of summer
the cool change creeping
into evenings' lengthening
and dark mornings

juxtaposed with toothless smiles and pony tails from far away
lawn boys mow
and a golden finch within the thistle
watches
the wide load escorted through move in day traffic
a sunflower cake for 67 years
five days after celebrating with her 91 year old mother
consoling words to those who have lost men far too young
of only 49 and 22
and preparing the six year old's birthday package of book and toy and yarn haired doll

all movement
breath
and heartbeat
all moments
longings
hopes and dreams
our wounds our struggles
hidden and
laid bare

in hope of someday
in fear
that perhaps never
in loss of today
this moment
passes forgotten

and in it

the struggle for holy

this moment
of desperate prayer
beyond the deep blues and greens
of summer
now past

“As to the past
let us entrust it to God’s mercy
the future to Divine Providence.
Our task is to live holy the present moment.”
